The Kanku symbol is the emblem of Kyokushin Karate, originating from the kata Kanku Dai ("Gazing at the Sky"). In this kata, the hands are raised and the fingers form an opening through which one looks toward the sky.
The top and bottom points represent the fingertips: a symbol of striving toward the highest goal.
The thick sides represent the wrists: a symbol of strength.
The central opening represents infinite depth and vision.
The surrounding circle symbolizes continuity and the endless cycle of movement and development.
